A Taste of Buzz Marketing at Taste Asia

A newly opened restaurant in SM’s Mall of Asia (MOA) called Taste Asia had a very unique event last night when it welcomed the company of more than 150 bloggers and treated everyone to an evening of free food, overflowing drinks and endless opportunities to network and remain in touch with fellow bloggers from everywhere.

Spearheaded by Google’s Aileen, in partnership with Yehey!, Taste Asia also announced a contest last night where the best and most written post by a blogger about Taste Asia will receive a free trip to Kuala Lumpur. My hat’s off to the marketing team of Taste Asia for the creative and innovative approach to spreading the word around about their existence in MOA by tapping the power of bloggers.

This is a taste of buzz marketing where instead of trying to get your message to as many people as possible by using the normal channels of marketing (TV, radio, print), you focus only on the influencers, in this case the bloggers, who regularly blog and get them to talk about you. Because these bloggers have people who regularly subscribe to them, the information is trickled down in a personal, non-obtrusive way. The good news about this is now, you don’t have to spend so much to get word out, you just need to talk to the right people to talk about you.
